About Our Opportunity
The Caseworker assesses the eligibility of individuals who need financial assistance and/or support, to determine initial and ongoing eligibility. In addition, the Caseworker provides employment support services to assist Income Assistance recipients and persons with disabilities to obtain financial independence for themselves and their families.
Primary Accountabilities
As the Caseworker, you will deliver the continuum of employment support services and income assistance enhancement activities for clients such as:
employability assessments, counselling/case management;
workshop facilitation, job development/job search services, and referrals;
intakes, assessments, records maintenance;
general and/or specialized case management, consultation; and
communication of outcomes to applicants, and referrals to appropriate programs and community resources.
In a team environment, you work collaboratively with colleagues, community, and clients to mobilize client’s personal resources toward self-sufficiency, using appropriate supporting interventions. You will also facilitate access to training, along with development of training/workshops with external service providers; all of which enable the movement of clients into employment.
Qualifications and Experience
You have completed a related Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences.
As our next Caseworker, you have excellent interviewing, communication (written/verbal), planning/organizational, team building, and crisis intervention skills. You understand budgetary and case management concepts, and demonstrate initiative, sound judgement, and sensitivity to the impact of culture, socioeconomic status, gender, age, and sexual orientation on client experience. You must be able to meet deadlines and deal effectively with difficult situations.
Working knowledge and experience in the application of Employment Support and Income Assistance (ESIA) policy/legislation, Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities, as well as related programs of the Department will be considered assets.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
Equivalency
An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies may include, but are not limited to:
A completed related 2-year diploma along with two (2) years of related experience;
Four (4) years of related experience.

Complete store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; follow up on work results. Schedules must be completed one month in advance - eensure coverage during holidays and employee absences
Manage stock levels and make key decisions about stock control - keep spoils to a minimum to maintain budget requirements
Initiate changes to improve the business
Manage and motivate team to increase sales and ensure efficiency
Place bread orders once per week, keep control of inventory to prevent excessive stock in the freezer
Place orders for milk as required
Manage Gourmet Baker product and place orders as required.
Maximize profits by minimizing costs, balance product purchases.
Ensure that all paid food is accompanied by a receipt. All foods leaving the store unpaid are to be accompanied by a donation request form or a no change order sheet - the no charge order sheets – the no charge order sheets are to include a value given to the Bakery Coordinator at the end of each week
Ensure that proper employee discounts are being monitored and given correctly (20% discount for Oakrun and Gourment Baker #1’s or firsts, this does not apply to outside vendors such as milk, Lanthier bread, etc.)
Ensure that foods for large orders not go out on Oakrun or Lanthier bread trays. Food is to be re-packed into corrugate cases - you may get approval for trays from the Bakery Coordinator; however it is the responsibility of the Retail Store Supervisor to follow up and ensure that trays are returned.
Ensure that there is only $50.00 in the cash till at any given time for safety and security - cash in excess of $50.00 is to be taken to the office and placed in the safe
Ensure that the store is never left unattended and one person is present at all times
Each Monday, provide the Bakery Coordinator with the daily till readings from the prior week
Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to supervisor immediately
Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
