As a result of our continued growth, we are looking for our next Auto Body Technician. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all finished projects consistently exceed our high-quality level in a fast-paced body shop atmosphere. In this role, you will also collaborate effectively with the team leader and team to achieve efficient vehicle flow, while ensuring quality standards are met to reduce and eliminate re-work.
Position Requirements:
Inspect damaged and repaired vehicles, documenting notes and review reports electronically or paper format. Estimate the repair cost and review the work plan to be performed, direct all questions to the Team Lead
Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using various tools such as and not limited to wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
Apply primers and repaint surfaces using various tools such as a brush or spray gun
Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation
When vehicle is assigned by the Team Lead, position it in the appropriate assigned location, review the work order line items and parts to be replaced
Review the complete vehicle exterior body parts, check all power accessories (door locks/windows/mirrors are operational) check that the dash panel has no warning lights visible
Identify prior damages overlooked on the QA checklist/ or related on the supplemental damage sheet
Fully dismantle the complete vehicle damaged areas including the blend panel parts in order to identify all hidden damages as early in the repair cycle as possible.
Ensure management is notified of major supplements or hidden damages that impact the vehicle progressing to the next stage
Perform repairs on vehicles, applying paint and coatings, including panel repair, surface preparation, and finishing
Upon completion of repairs, return unnecessary parts for credit to parts co coordinator, all new and damaged parts are to be placed on the parts cart. Notifying the Parts Co- Ordinator to move cart back to the storage area is mandatory. Smaller repairs are to be positioned in the tote and stored in the trunk
Sign off on the QA checklist, move vehicle to next production area notify next production technician assigned to that vehicle
Responsible to clean and sweep production stall, re inventory as needed. Required to position the next vehicle in the appropriate stall and restart process
Responsibilities that require a high level of technical expertise, detail, accuracy, and accountability.
Expertly prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming to ensure the highest standard of paint application.
Carry out finishing tasks, including buffing, polishing, and correcting any paint imperfections, to achieve the flawless results our customers expect.
Utilize experience with spray guns and other painting equipment to apply primer, base coat, and clear coat, must follow manufacturer specifications and shop standards.
Remove, repair, and reinstall vehicle components including trim and exterior parts for complete repairs.
Inspect completed work meticulously to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications and quality standards, making any necessary adjustments or paint corrections.
Maintain and properly care for shop equipment including spray guns, sanders, and other body repair tools to ensure optimal performance.
Use precision and care to hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
Qualifications:
2+ years of proven experience as an auto body repairer/technician with a strong portfolio showcasing current/previous work is required.
Min 2-year experience working in collision shop.
Experience including:
with paint equipment and tools to apply primer, base coat, and clear coat, following manufacturer specifications and shop standards.
Technical Skills: Carry out finishing tasks, including buffing, polishing, and correcting any paint imperfections, to achieve the flawless results our customers require.
Knowledge: Solid understanding of different types of paints, primers, and finishes, and corresponding application methods. Regularly maintain and clean all paint equipment, ensuring equipment is in optimal condition to prevent contamination and ensure consistent quality.
