Role

The Northwest Region of Alberta Parks is looking for motivated, courteous and hard-working individuals with exceptional customer service skills to fill Campground Booth Information Officer positions for the summer at Saskatoon Island and Young's Point Provincial Parks.

The Booth Information Officers assist campers with registration and other aspects of their stay as well as performing administrative tasks such as using the (RAP) Reserve Alberta Parks system, collecting and reconciling revenue, and selling of firewood and ice. There will also be opportunities to assist other provincial park staff with occupancy checks, cleaning and maintenance, developing self-guided activities for campers, and other administrative duties such as data entry.

Must be a team player with strong customer service, communication and organizational skills. Require driver’s license and own transportation.

Note: Accommodations may be available within the park. Shift and weekend work is required.
Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening and provide a driver’s abstract.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma at minimum with preference for post-secondary education
  • Equivalencies will be considered

Requirements

  • One year of Customer Service experience
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Valid First Aid Certificate

Assets

  • Experience or training in Tourism & Hospitality, Administration, Communications, Accounting, or Business
  • Preferred Alberta Environment and Parks experience
  • Experience handling cash, credit and debit card transactions, computer usage, debit machines
  • Defensive Driving Certificate

Salary

$19.40 - $23.61 per hour

Notes

This is a seasonal wage opportunity.

Hours of work: Employees will work a 40 hour work week. Days of the week will depend on the placement, but staff can expect to work evenings and weekends.

Interviews will be held virtually in March.

Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
