Employment Opportunity: Registrar's Office - Assistant Registrar, Academic and Enrolment Services
(Maternity Leave 14 to 18 months)
The Assistant Registrar - Academic and Enrolment Services coordinates the Registrar's Office academic advising and retention activities. This involves extensive coordination with faculty members and administrative units at both King's and Dalhousie. This role works to plan and support front-line enrolment services for current and prospective students, including degree advising, registration assistance and coordination of all related administrative processes. In addition, this position works on all academic components of the planning and execution of current student academic events such as Matriculation, Encaenia, and Advising events. This individual is involved with all aspects of academic and enrolment advice in the Registrar's Office and works on the annual production of the University Calendar.
Specific Duties/Accountabilities
The Assistant Registrar - Academic and Enrolment Services is responsible for the following:
- Advises current and prospective students on degree requirements, options, course selection, academic regulations, and forms, referring them to departmental advisors and other resources as needed.
- Confirms degree eligibility, identifies, and coordinates citations for select medal winners, and oversees the productions of parchments and edits to the degree portion of the program for university Encaenia. Coordinates student participation in the ceremony.
- Hires, trains, schedules, and provides ongoing supervision and support to Peer Advisor student employees
- Supports students through registration and assists navigating barriers.
- Coordinates academic success plans for students who've been academically dismissed, placed on probation, or who are at-risk; referring and coordinating supports with appropriate supports at King's and Dalhousie.
- Works on the annual editing and publication of the university calendar.
- Supports academic ceremonies including Encaenia and Matriculation.
- Creates and updates academic student support resources and publications for current students.
- Provides enrolment verification documents for current students.
- Liaises with Dalhousie to establish registration and enrolment processes and procedures for new programs, troubleshoot issues and ensure adherence with student information system requirements.
- Responsible for communicating term assessments of academic eligibility, probation, and dismissal for Journalism students.

The successful candidate will need:
- Passion for providing student support
- Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities with an accompanying attention to detail
- Strong project management skills with the ability to complete work accurately and meet deadlines
- A demonstrated aptitude to communicating clearly
- Proven ability to collaborate in an office environment
- Minimum undergraduate degree
- At least two years' experience in post-secondary education
It would be considered an asset if the candidate possesses:
- Experience advising students
- Particular knowledge of humanities and journalism
Salary Range: $45,142 to $54,386 (including group benefits)
