Job Description


We are looking for individuals who would be interested in building brilliance with us as a Mine Operator 1.1. This is a full time permanent at our Touquoy Mine. The opportunity is offered on a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule working 12 hour rotational shifts. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, your role will be responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment (haul trucks, excavators, loaders and / or various support equipment) to meet mining objectives.

The Opportunity

  • Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
  • Applying all applicable regulations, codes and corporate/site standards operating procedures.
  • Inspecting equipment prior to use. Reporting damage or malfunctions of equipment to supervisors immediately.
  • Assisting in all aspects of daily mine activities as directed by the Mine Operations Supervisor with an active focus on dewatering.
  • Responsible for safe use and return of required tools each shift.
  • Performing environmental rain checks as applicable.
  • Practicing good housekeeping. Picking up and remove any leftover materials or garbage found in the work area.
  • Being aware of surroundings always.
  • Contributing to a positive work culture, effective team / crew.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
  • Protecting and promoting the interest of this company in all matters and to take actions as required to satisfy such responsibilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A personal commitment to behavior consistent with St Barbara's Values including honesty and integrity, respect, working together, delivering to promise and striving to do better.
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety required.
  • Valid Driver's license, minimum class 5.
  • Extensive experience in operating small equipment, hand tools, pumps, etc.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to complete daily logs accurately.
