Shoppers Drug Mart #2312 is looking for 4 full-time Pharmacy Assistants to join a locally owned and operated store. We are located at 9925 78th Street, Peace River AB, T8S 1Z9. You will help deliver health, beauty and convenience services in your community, and keep the customer at the centre of everything you do. Job Duties and Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, assist in the delivery of pharmacy services, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the pharmacy by providing superior, timely, and pleasant services to customers. More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Providing support and assistance to the pharmacists as required, ultimately with a view to enhancing the pharmacist/customer relationship
- Ensuring proficiency with pharmacy systems and documentation
- Following standard operating procedures and pharmacists’ direction, and adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements
- Complying with all established loss prevention policies and procedures
- Referring to the pharmacists all clinical inquiries, for example, those related to medication purpose, use and recommendations (including prescriptions, over the counter medications, and restricted sale products); diseases and conditions; professional fees; and other inquiries
- Providing accurate information in response to customer inquiries; resolving customer issues; ensuring appropriate intervention by the pharmacists
- Drawing customer attention to literature or information as required
- Ensuring customers requiring counseling are referred to the pharmacists in a timely and appropriate manner
- Maintaining and controlling the cash register in the dispensary, third-party billing and payment, in accordance with cash handling policies and third-party account procedures
- Adhering to all confidentiality and privacy requirements
- Assisting in prescription preparation, data entry, and managing refill request processing in compliance with company standards and professional service requirements
- Counting or measuring, packaging, and labelling prescriptions, while ensuring all relevant information and documentation is complete
- Accurately filing completed documentation in a timely and organized manner, and generating reports as required
- May be required to mix, reconstitute, or compound prescriptions, as directed and supervised by the pharmacists
- Ensuring prescriptions are prioritized correctly in accordance with workflow
- Performing inventory management, under the direction and supervision of the pharmacists
- Maintaining proper storage and disposal of medications within the pharmacy
- Ensuring regular replenishment of pharmacy drugs and supplies
- Ensuring narcotic inventory is detail received and records updated under the direct supervision of the pharmacists
- Managing customer returns and expired products in accordance with established disposal protocol
- Prioritizing recalls and immediately isolating products as necessary
Skills & Qualifications
If you possess the following skills and qualifications, you will be a great fit as a Pharmacy Assistant. Notably, you have:
- Obtained a high school diploma, although a diploma from a Pharmacy Assistant accredited course is an asset
- Previous experience working in a pharmacy is required
- Experience reviewing and interpreting prescription orders and doctor referrals
- Familiarity with pharmacy procedures including the disposal and safe handling of dangerous products
- Exceptional customer service skills with a talent for building customer loyalty
- Effective English communication skills
- Microsoft Office experience
- Effective organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Strong attention to detail
Benefits
