Job Duties

Specific Skills:

• Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children ages 18 months to 12 years of age
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest.
• Knowledge of licensing regulations.
• Provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic plays, music, and physical activity.
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
• Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
• Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cleaning as needed
• Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
• Regularly attend staff meetings

Terms of Employment: Permanent/Full time

Language of Work: English

Wage: $26/ hour

Hours: 30 to 40 hours/ week

Benefit Package: 4% Vacation pay.

Skills Requirements

Education: College/CEGEP

Work Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years.

Credentials:

Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma

Standard First Aid Certificate

CPR Level C Certificate

Start Date: As soon as possible
